If you’ve come here hoping to learn everything there is to know about the World Tier difficulty system, congrats: you’ve found the right place to do so! In the following, we will talk about the differences that exist between each World Tier, provide some pointers on how to choose which one to play while taking part in the ongoing Diablo 4 Open Beta, and explain how you can easily adjust the level of difficulty that your World Tier presents.

World Tiers are essentially just different difficulty settings that modify the difficulty of the enemies you face and the types of loot and rewards you can obtain as you progress through the game. World Tiers can be found in games like World of Warcraft and Diablo 3. In Diablo 4, players can select from one of four distinct variations, and these are the available options: World Tier 1 is referred to as the Adventurer tier, World Tier 2 as the Veteran tier, World Tier 3 as the Nightmare tier, and World Tier 4 as the Torment tier.

As soon as the game starts, you can play on either the Adventurer or Veteran difficulty level. However, to access the Nightmare and Torment difficulties, you must finish the Campaign, reach level 50, buy Diablo 4 items, and then begin exploring the Capstone Dungeon. Because the Diablo 4 beta only allows players to advance through the Prologue and Act 1 of the Campaign, the only character classes accessible are Adventurer and Veteran. Take note of this crucial aspect of the situation.

When chosen, World Tiers that feature foes with a greater difficulty level will, on average, result in improved gameplay rewards. These improvements can include increases in the amount of gear that is dropped and increases in the amount of experience and gold gained. Once World Tier 3: Nightmare has been reached, players can access more difficult events and activities, such as Nightmare Dungeons and Helltides. Following is a table in which we have outlined all of the differences that can be found between the four different World Tiers of Diablo 4, as well as the prerequisites that need to be met to gain access to the Nightmare and Torment difficulties.

Before attempting to party together in Diablo 4, ensure your group has decided on a difficulty level. You won’t be able to play the multiplayer co-op mode of the game unless everyone is on the same World Tier. This can be avoided by ensuring everyone in your group is on the same level. Remember to keep this in mind as it is very important. If you don’t want this to happen, you should avoid tinkering with the difficulty settings unless you are comfortable that it will clear any active Town Portals and Whisper bounty progress.

If you want to change the World Tier you are currently playing in Diablo 4, you can do so in one of two ways. Both of these options are available to you. To begin, you can change the World Tier from the main menu of Diablo 4 by selecting the button labeled Change World Tier, which is situated on the right side of the screen. You won’t be able to adjust the challenge level while playing the game, even though this is the simplest method available.

Your World Tier can also be changed by traveling to any major city and visiting a World Tier Statue there. This is the second method. These statues, dispersed across the city and take the form of the fallen angel Inarius, can be found at various locations. After selecting Buy Diablo 4 gold, you will be given a choice to select a different World Tier, at which point you will be taken to a new instance of Sanctuary to continue playing. If you do not select it, the game will end immediately. In the top-left corner of the city, directly south of the Cathedral of Light, you will find the World Tier Statue of Kyovashad.
