Bitcoin is finally hitting the mainstream. In just 7 years, it went from being an obscure new technology to one of the most popular cryptocurrencies in existence with millions more people learning about Bitcoin every day. Many have made fortunes off its success as well – even those who invested early on when prices were low are making it big while still sitting on the bitcoins they bought.

It’s no surprise that some of the world’s most famous celebrities are investing in cryptocurrency on platforms similar to Kraken.com and BitiQ. With so many followers on social media, they have a lot to gain by partnering with businesses that accept bitcoin as payment. Below is a list of a few celebs who are involved in the crypto-verse.

Top Celebs Investing in Crypto

Mike Tyson

Mike Tyson is not just any other celebrity, he was once one of America’s most notorious boxers. But with his new partnership and collaboration on Bitcoin wallets in 2015, it seems like Tyson has found something much more valuable than fame – he can now take part in the revolution that will change finance forever.

Mark Cuban

Mark Cuban is an entrepreneur who’s been involved in plenty of different industries over the years. He founded Dallas Mavericks and Magnolia Pictures, two successful businesses which have made him a billionaire many times over! However when it comes to Bitcoin, Cuban has had a love-Hate relationship with Bitcoin. He once advised people to put at least 10% of their portfolio in it, but then admitted he’d rather own bananas than own crypto coins.

In April 2020 when asked about his holdings on Coinbase which were valued at around $130 (now worth around $635), Mark clarified that since early days he has attained many other cryptos.

He also owns chunks from Ethereum and Ripple. Cuban also has been accepting Bitcoin for his Dallas Mavs basketball team’s tickets through BitPay payment processes since 2019.

Jack Dorsey

In an interview with Bloomberg, Jack Dorsey revealed that he has been investing in Bitcoin since 2017 and considers it to be the future world currency. He explained how when crypto prices crashed last year, after reaching their highest point in 2018, many people became skeptical of digital currencies because there were so few stable ones available (Bitcoin being one). Dorsey was unfazed by this news story claiming BTC would die out someday too.

Dorsey is a familiar name in the Bitcoin world, having served as an early investor and miner. He later went on to found Square – one of America’s largest payment processors with over 4 million customers. In October 2020 he bought 4,709 bitcoins which are now estimated at around $6 million.

Elon Musk

Elon Musk is a well-known (and sometimes ridiculed) figure in the crypto community. He’s been known to have his doubts about cryptocurrencies, but thanks to his image as a “Rockstar Scientist” with over 46 million followers on Twitter, he’s likely one of Bitcoin’s most influential people, despite constantly poking fun at cryptocurrency on social media outlets. Around this time last year, he updated his bio statement with the hashtag “#Bitcoin” causing BTC to skyrocket.

Musk, who became the world’s wealthiest person in January 2021, has recently made his support for Bitcoin public. Furthermore, Tesla announced they would be purchasing $1.5 billion worth of cryptocurrency – which makes up 7% of their gross cash position as well as netting 15%.

Maisie Williams

Maisie Williams is no stranger to the spotlight. She rose through fame as one of ‘Game Of Thrones’ most beloved characters, Robb Stark’s youngest daughter and Talisa Maeck (another cool character she played). Since then her career has continued with many other roles that have made fans crazy about what might come next. This time however it seems like something different could be coming: investing in Bitcoin.

In a recent post on Twitter, she was found asking advice from those who know more than her in the field. Over 900k people responded giving both pros and cons alike – over half advised against making the dive.

Thankfully, it seemed like she had already made up her mind about the advice and thanked her fans for their time, she mentions “I bought some anyway”, which worked out to her advantage.

Snoop Dog

For a brief period of time, the American rapper was ahead of his peers in terms of adopting new and emerging technologies. He allowed fans to purchase music with Bitcoin through sites like BitPay or iTunes back when they first started taking off. His albums had price labels that showed how much an album would cost using only BTC rather than US currency – which at one point was equal to $14k USD worth.

It’s unclear how much BTC Snoop sits on, but he still supports the space of crypto and much like Elon Musk, has shown a liking to Dogecoin.

Kanye West

Kanye West, one of the most popular rappers in America and a self-proclaimed Bitcoiner, has expressed his support for cryptocurrency on an episode of Joe Rogan’s podcast. He noted how it can be used as “the new highway” that leads towards humanity’s next frontier–but we’re still waiting to hear how much he holds!

Floyd Mayweather

In 2017, when boxer Floyd “Crypto” Mayweather was just starting to be famous for owning Bitcoin and having a huge Twitter following of 30 million people, he tweeted that it is okay if his fans call him by this name. However, that same year in 2018, Mayweather and well-known DJ Khaled ended up being fined by the SEC due to certain illegal initial coin offerings they promoted together.

All in All

The future of Bitcoin seems to be in full force, with many major companies and institutions betting on this new digital currency. Although it’s unclear when the revolution will actually take off or if and how long these prices can last, for now we know one thing: those who are influential enough – like Bill Gates- have value in what they see happening right now. With all these famous personalities from around our world already staking their claim as being supporters, we have a good idea about where things could go next.
