Solution 1: Disable HTTP or Port Checking
First, open your antivirus control panel. Usually, you can access the antivirus user interface by double-clicking on its icon in the system tray(a small arrow icon in task manager)
Here is a path for the HTTPS checking option for AVG and Avast.
- AVG: Home – Settings – Components – Online Shield – Enable HTTPS Scanning (uncheck it)
- Avast: Home – Settings – Components – Web Shield – Enable HTTPS Scanning (uncheck it)
Once you disabled HTTPS/Port checking, try to download any file with Google Chrome and see if it is working or not. If the error still appears, try to disable your antivirus and check again.

Solution 2: Change Default Downloads Location
You can also face a download failed error in Google Chrome when you don’t have enough storage. So, in this case, try to change your default download location in Chrome and download again.
1. Open Google Chrome > click on the three-dot button > Settings.
2. It will open the Chrome settings Window.
3. Now from the left pane, click on Advanced > Downloads.
4. You can see your download path here. Click on the Change button and choose another drive or folder to save downloads > Save.
5. All your Chrome downloads will be saved in the new location. Try to download any file and see if you are facing the error or not. Restart your browser to apply new changes.
Solution 3: Install the Latest Network Drivers
Sometimes due to older or corrupted network drivers, you can face such network error or download failed error. To fix this, you have to update your network drivers.
There are two options:
You can manually download network drivers from your manufacturer’s site. Or you can use 3rd party driver update tools like Driver Easy. These tools allow you to download and update drivers automatically.
To download the new network drivers, you have to uninstall older drivers.
1. Open the Start menu > search for “Device manager” > open it.
2. Click on network adapters > find your network driver.
3. Right-click on the network driver > choose to uninstall.
4. Now download the latest drivers from the website and install them. The process of installation is simple. Just follow on-screen instructions, and you are good to go.
