
If you are new to Windows 10 or recently installed a new Windows 10 update then you may have seen a new unknown icon in the taskbar. When you hover your mouse on that icon, it says Meet now. Now you must be wondering what is Meet now and why Microsoft introduced it?

In this article, We will share how you can disable it if you don’t need it.
Microsoft has introduced Meet now in late 2020, to create a skype virtual meeting with a single click. You can also join a meeting with Meet now.
Many users find it useless and they want to disable it. There is no direct option is available in the taskbar to disable Meet now. But you can turn off Meet Now from the taskbar settings.
Disable the Meet Now feature with Windows Setting
Here are the steps to disable meet now in Windows 10.
Step 1: Go to Windows Settings with Win + I button.
Step 2: Now click on Personalization.
Step 3: Select taskbar > scroll down and then click on Turn system icons on or off.
Step 4: In the list, find Meet Now and turn it off.
How to disable the Meet Now using Group Policy Editor
Now that this Skype Meet now feature is only available for Windows 10 Pro (Enterprise or Education). Follow these steps to disable it using group policy editor.
Step 1: Open start menu > type “gpedit.msc” and press enter.
Step 2: It will open a group policy editor window. Go to this path:
User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Start Menu and Taskbar > Remove Meet Now
Step 3: Double-click on the Remove Meet Now button policy.
Step 4: Select the Enabled option > Click Apply > OK and then restart your PC.
How to disable Meet Now with Registry
Before following these steps, take a full backup of your registry files.
Step 1: Open start menu and then search for regedit.
Step 2: Click on it to open registry editor.
Step 3: Now go to this path:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies
Step 4: Right-click the Policies > select new > choose the DWORD (32-bit) option.
Step 5: Name it HideSCAMeetNow > Enter.
Step 5: Double-click it > DWORD > set the value from 0 to 1.
Step 5: Click on Ok and restart your computer.
That’s it.
Now you can see that the Meet Now icon is removed from the taskbar.
To enable it again, just turn it on in the taskbar setting.
