Before diving into solutions, read why you are facing this external hard disk not detected issue. There are many possible reasons for this error. According to our research, it happens because of:
1. USB port not working: Maybe your computer USB port is broken or not working properly. Try to connect your external HDD to another USB port and see if Seagate HDD is showing up or not.
2. Outdated drivers: This is a common reason for most Windows 10 related issues. Check Seagate hard drive drivers. If they are outdated, update them.
3. Virus: Sometimes due to malware or viruses, you can face this issue. To fix it, scan your entire HDD with trusted antivirus.
4. Failure of Hard Drive: Sometimes due to physical hard disk failure can cause this issue.
How to Fix Seagate External Hard Drive Not Detected Issue

Solution 1. Change Drive Letter
Sometimes due to drive letter conflict, Windows blocks devices. So try to change your Seagate hard disk drive letter.
Follow these steps:
1. Open disk management options. You can use Win + X to open a quick menu and then select disk management.
2. Then select Seagate hard disk partition and right-click on it.
3. Now select change drive letter and paths in options > click on change > assign a new driver letter.
4. It will ask you to restart your computer.
Solution 2. Initialization of Seagate External Hard drive
Sometimes due to an initialization issue, you will face this error. In this case, you have to initialize your hard disk.
Before initializing your disk, take a backup of your important data if you can access your HDD on another system.

Right-click on the drive > Choose the initialize option.
Solution 3. Format Seagate External Hard drive
1. Open the start menu > search for CMD. Then simply right-click on command prompt > Choose run as administrator. This will open a terminal window.
2. In a terminal window, use the following commands.

Solution 4. Disable Fast Startup on Windows 10
1. Open the start menu and search for Power Options and click on power and sleep settings.
2. Then click on Additional power settings.
3. Now keep selecting the following options:
- change what the power button do from the left window
- Change settings that are currently unavailable option
4.. Uncheck Turn off fast startup (recommended) >Save changes > restart your computer.
5. When the computer restarts, check if you can see Seagate external hard drive or not.
Solution 5. Reinstall Seagate Hard Disk Drivers
As we mentioned above, outdated drivers can cause this issue. To check which driver you are using, you can use free driver tools.
These driver tools are designed to download and install drivers automatically on Windows. Otherwise, you have to download drivers manually from the Seagate website and install them. This can be a little techy.
1. First, remove all Seagate apps and toolkit drivers from your system. To do this, open settings with Win + I > Go to System and then Apps & features.
2. Find all Seagate app and remove them.
3. Go to Seagate’s official website, download the latest version of all Seagate software, and install them on your Windows.

Once the scan is completed, you will see a list of all required drivers. You can directly download and install them from the Driver Easy tool.
Solution 6. Enable USB Root Hub
Sometimes your system automatically disables external devices to save power. To enable this option, follow these steps:
Step 1: Press Win + X command and choose device manager from all options.
Step 2: Find the list called universal serial bus controllers and expand it to access more USB settings.
Step 3: Find USB Hub in the list and then right-click on it and click on properties.
Step 4: Now click on the power management tab in Generic USB Hub Properties and uncheck the first option to fix the issue. (Check below image)
