Before comparing the in-app Uber VS Lyft customer service options, let me first introduce myself. I have been an Uber and Lyft driver for over four years now. I have completed over 20700 trips for Uber and 8,200 trips for Lyft. My Uber rating is 4.90 and Lyft rating is 4.92 at present. I had to contact the customer service of these ridesharing companies many times. Lyft boasts to be a friendly company, but Uber has better support in many aspects. Uber’s in-app support features are much more elaborate and response time was less compared to Lyft. But some of my recent support requests to Uber also took more time to be resolved.
A funny story, my rider forgot six boxes of delicious cupcakes from Cup Cake Royale in my car. I went back to the place where I dropped them. Kept waiting for 10 min, nobody came back to get the boxes. I sent a message via the app to Uber customer service to inform the rider and pass on my number. Their support contacted me the next day that they have passed my number. I was stuck with those boxes for the whole night. After that also nobody contacted me, so I gave away those boxes to a church.
Ok, back to the topic. What I like about Uber Support is that they have provided the options for most of the issues which the drivers face on a regular basis. And they also have the same generic answers for these problems which sometimes get you nowhere. Other than that the customer service they provide to drivers is mostly on point and effective. I am sharing the screenshots from my Uber Driver App. To access this option, you have to tap to get to the earning screen and then choose any trip and tap on help present at the bottom of trip information in case of Uberx. For Uberpool the help button is next to the trip information.
In the case of Lyft customer service in-app features, you don’t have a lot of options. I have shared the screenshot pf support options which Lyft has provided via the Lyft Driver app. One problem I faced with Lyft is that the trips don’t update on the help screen. So you are not able to select the trip for which you are seeking help immediately. If you want to get help sooner, you have to copy-paste all the details of the trip. In my case, I take a screenshot of the trip and send it to Lyft support with all the other details.
Comparing Uber and Lyft support, I would say that Lyft is lagging in it’s on app options. Otherwise, the response time of both companies is almost the same. The clean categorization of various issues that are faced by driver Uber Driver Makes it easy for the driver to get help. Which is not so in the case of Lyft.
