INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE error is one of the Blue Screen of Death Error. Fix INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE Error

Method 1: Remove Recently-Installed Packages

I personally believe that some Windows Updates are faulty and you have to remove them. To find all the recently installed Windows Packages and then remove them.

1. Open Settings > then Updates and Security and then go to Recovery and then advanced startup > Restart Now.

2. Now a blue screen will open. Go to Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Command Prompt. Your computer will reboot.

3. In command prompt Window, type,

dir c: ( C is a System driver where Windows is installed) > Enter.

Dism /Image:c:\ /Get-Packages > press Enter.

You will see all the packages installed.

4. To remove the package, type

dism.exe /image:c:\ /remove-package /[package name]

5. Replace [package name] with the name you want to remove from your system. Reboot your system.

Method 2: Remove “Update Pending” Packages

If you haven’t updated your Windows 10 for a long time then you have some updates pending. These pending updates can cause INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE Error.

To solve this error, open command prompt in in the advanced startup options from this path: Update and Security > Recovery > Advanced Startup > Restart Now > Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Command Prompt.

Run the following command. This command will remove or clear all the pending updates.

reg load HKLM\temp c:\windows\system32\config\software

reg delete "HKLM\temp\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component Based Servicing\SessionsPending"/v Exclusive

reg unload HKLM\temp

Next, move pending updates into their own temporary file.

Type following command to get all the update list.

dism /image:C:\ /get-packages

Create the temporary file using MKDIR C:\temp\packages > Enter.

Lastly, move all the pending packages into the temporary file using the following command.

dism /image:c:\ /remove-package /packagename:[package name] /scratchdir:c:\temp\packages > Enter.

Replace [package name] with your package name.

Method 3: Update Your Drivers

Updating drivers can fix this issue. Check if there are any outdated and faulty drivers installed on your Windows 10. You can manually check it or you can use driver update tools like Driver Easy and Driver Talent to download and install the latest drivers automatically.

Method 4. Enable AHCI mode in the BIOS

According to many users, enabling AHCI mode in system BIOS solves the inaccessible boot drive error. So you can also try this method.

Go to BIOS > Advanced Options > Find AHCI Mode > change to Enabled.

Also, try updating AHCI controller drivers.

Other Methods

There are many other solutions like Check your Hard Disk. Sometimes due to a corrupt hard disk, you will face this error. Also, Remove and reinsert RAM.
